We are fortunate to have Dr. Lisa Grant as our new District Superintendent. She is a Lewis County local who knows and listens to our community. She has hit the ground running with the upcoming Centralia schools levy, and she recognizes that a big part of rebuilding trust is ensuring there is open communication with the community. She has made a clear commitment to run a collaborative, open, and community accessible school district.

Dr. Grant has established a Citizens Advisory Committee and Budget Task Force, and the district is currently accepting applications for community participation. Citizens Advisory Committee and Budget Task Force applications are due by July 31, 2020. Application details are available from the Centralia Schools district office at 360-330-7600.

Learning in school is not all done in the classroom. A great deal is learned in programs and after school activities that the levy funding makes possible.

High school theatre group, knowledge bowl, computer robotics, gaming esports club, school music concerts…these all need levy funding to continue. A student’s first chance to participate in intra-league athletic competition, middle school travel sports, junior varsity, and a dozen different high school varsity sports are made available by levy funding at little or no cost to families.

Let’s make tomorrow better than today.

By offering rigorous courses in Centralia High School, such as those in Advanced Placement or College in the Classroom, students can stay in our high school and be challenged. They do not need to leave their high school experience, the school district, their friends, or activities to have these options.

Passing the local levy ensures that higher level classes will continue at no cost to all students who want them. Help keep our high achievers in our own schools.

Let’s make tomorrow better than today.

Being digitally literate is an essential life skill for students today. To achieve this, up-to-date computers and technology are required in the classrooms. By passing the upcoming school levy, we can provide kids with access to powerful current technology.

They will be gaining the skills and confidence to live and function in a complex digital world, and they will be better prepared for almost any career path in their future.

Let’s make tomorrow better than today.
